Sears List of Subject Headings This link opens in a new window Why SEARS? Sears subject headings are meant to correlate to the classification scheme used within the Dewey Decimal System. This makes it easier for libraries to find the subject headings they can use to further classify their collection. Because Sears is not a complete authority list, the cataloger using Sears must take an active part in developing a larger vocabulary of terms.
