Explains how to make use of some popular (and also some little-known) services at NGL

How to Reserve a Private or Group Study Room

The library has a variety of small study rooms (1-2 people) and medium study rooms (3-8 people) for student use.

Rooms can be reserved online up to 30 days in advance. You may reserve up to 4 hours per day (whether in one room or multiple, in one time block or multiple). An SHSU computer account is required for reservation. Users are expected to follow all room use policies.

To make a reservation:

  1. Go to the library's homepage: Newton Gresham Library Home (shsu.edu)
  2. Click on "Online Self-Service"
  3. Click on "Reserve a Study Room"

  1. You may use the drop-down menus to filter rooms by: Category, Capacity, and Zone. You do not have to use these settings if you are attempting a broader search.
  2. Enter in the date and time you need the room. To produce the most results that match your date and time requirements, do not select Category, Capacity, or Zone.
  3. Click "Search"
  4. The results will be displayed on the right-hand side.

  1. Select the room that best meets your needs and click on "Book Now."
  2. Select your current status.
  3. Agree to the Terms and Conditions and click “Submit my Booking.”
Booking Details form which requests name, email, current status at SHSU, and acceptance of terms and conditions before a booking can be officially submitted.

  4. If the booking has been successful you will receive an e-mail confirming your reservation and containing any additional necessary information.
  5. If other people are using the room at your reserved time, please ask for help at the Library Service Desk, and we will clear the space for your use. By policy, your reservation takes priority. If you simply move to an alternate space that appears empty, you may interfere with another reservation, and the problem simply continues.
