User Services: How-To...

Focused study kits are designed to provide helpful tools to students with ADHD, dyslexia, or other reading or focus issues.

Each kit contains three types of tools: Reading, Writing, and Focus.

Reading

All kits include three full-page overlays (green, blue, and orange); an assortment of medium-size overlays (various colors, some with ruler lines and some without); an assortment of thin overlays (various colors); and a FocusFinger highlighter overlay with purple, blue, yellow, and clear highlighter attachments.

Slant boards for reading on an incline are also available separately from these kits.

Writing

All kits include black, blue, red, green, and purple pens, as well as two highlighters (colors vary) with clear, see-through tips to help you focus while highlighting.

Focus (Sensory / Fidget Objects)

All kits include a large bubble-pop fidget object and a textured fidget strip, as well as 1-2 other items of various types.

Slant boards, for reading or writing on an incline, are also available for checkout separately from these kits.

Follow these steps to borrow a kit and/or a slant board:

1. Visit the Service Desk on the second floor of the library.
2. Ask for a Focused Study Kit.
3. Swipe your Bearkat OneCard when prompted.
4. Note the information the staff member provides about when the kit is due.
5. Return the kit to the Service Desk on time to avoid late fines. (Don't use the book drops!)
