All of Us Research Program

This guide provides information about the All of Us Research Program

Begin at the All of Us Research Hub

Register tabAll of Us Research Hub

When you visit the All of Us Research Hub, select the button that says Register. After creating your Researcher Workbench account, you will be asked to verify your identity through login.gov. and complete mandatory training focused on conducting responsible and ethical research using the Researcher Workbench and sign the Data User Code of Conduct.  Note - Sam Houston State University has a Data Use and Registration Agreement (DURA) with the All of Us Research Program. This agreement allows anyone affiliated with our institution to register and use the data from this historic program free of charge.

Genomic Data

Researcher Access to Genomic Data

Within the Researcher Workbench's Controlled Tier, data from nearly 250,000 whole genome sequences and more than 312,900 genotyping arrays are integrated alongside data from surveys, physical measurements, EHRs, and wearables. The data and tools are available only to registered researchers who have taken additional steps and training to access these data. Using these datasets, researchers have opportunities to:

  • Make associations through an integrated dataset by cross-referencing biologic data with data related to participants’ environment and life circumstances
  • Build upon the traditional longitudinal study model by layering dense, omic data from a large, diverse population
  • Come together with other researchers from different disciplines around project-specific data analysis (through collaborative workspaces, cohort-building tools, interactive notebooks, etc.)
  • Learn from sample cohorts for replicability and to help get started
  • Leverage innovations of other studies and cohorts

Types of Data You Can Use

Data Resources

Participants share data from multiple sources. The All of Us Research Program’s Data and Research Center curates and validates these data as part of the data collection process. Not all of these data are currently available to researchers, but as the program grows, additional data sources will become available. An NIH Letter of Support from All of Us is NOT necessary if a researcher is seeking funding to use the data available on the Researcher Workbench.

Available data types include:

  • More than 413,350 survey responses,
  • More than 337,500 physical measurements,
  • More than 312,900 genotyping arrays,
  • More than 287,000 electronic health records (EHRs),
  • More than 245,350 whole genome sequences,
  • More than 15,600 Fitbit records, and
  • More than 1,000 long-read whole genome sequences

Data now available in the Researcher Workbench: More than 413,350 survey responses, 337,500 physical measurements, 312,900 genotyping arrays, 287,000 electronic health records, 245,350 whole genome sequences, 15,600 Fitbit records, and 1,000 long-read sequences.

All of Us Data Browser

What is the purpose of the Data Browser?

The Data Browser is an interactive tool that allows you to learn more about the data collected as part of the All of Us Research Program. You can explore the survey questions and answers and physical measurements taken at the time of participant enrollment. You can also learn more about the electronic health record (EHR) data. The Data Browser will allow you to see how many of the All of Us participants have certain conditions, survey responses, demographics, and more. All of Us Data Browser
