Collection Development

  • Assessment
    • Collecting Statistics

  • Management
    • Complete multiple copy project
    • JSTOR project
    • Print journals to stacks/cancelation of newsletters/browsing space-student space

    • collecting institutional memory on why databases, ejournals, etc, were selected.
    • Investigate vendor for access checking
  • Collection Development
    • Improve communication (perception) with subject selectors
      • Online, collaborative collection wish lists
      • Making clear nature of deals (subscription vs one-time), package descriptions
  • Technical Services
    • EBSCO renewal
    • Getting EBSCO mobile e-book app to work

Electronic Resources

  • CORAL
    • Work with Acq Library Assistants to retroactively populate Resources + Licenses module so that information is transparent and readily available among Tech Services members but also to other library departments (ILL, Reference, etc.)
    • Migrate all Title Add/Modify/Close forms as workflows in CORAL
    • training any remaining staff members on CORAL (Carolyn, Hilda, ILL dept, Ref dept. etc.)
    • Ensure sufficient cataloging notes are located within each resorce record. Create 899 note tags for every resource
    • Get linking to work between CORAL and OPAC (System #)
  • Licenses
    • finish standard streaming media license to use for all indie film companies who may not have this type of document readily available
    • Expression Comparison:  work with Lucy to get CORAL Licenses module more populated and key license terms identified.
  • Authentication
    • Explore, research and prepare for (at least a partial) migration to Shibboleth from EZProxy for library e-resources
    • Maintain a close working relationship with IT@Sam since authentication will more be under their control...
  • Usage Statistics
    • Cancelation matrix:  evaluate consistently and fairly so that multiple data points and librarian(s) input is considered
    • standardized Usage Stats report (PDF generated from Excel)
      overall report should ideally be 1-2 pages with visual representation of data, consisting of:
      1. usage stats
      2. cost stats (including cost history, % increase, etc.)
      3. librarian input
      4. accreditation factor?? (if possible/applicable)

Cataloging

  • Reduce processing interim times for all monographic print & electronic resources
  • Re-organize workflows to reflect change to electronic format
  • Work on projects to increase database/collection quality
  • Inventory Thomason room and create new sub-locations (item categories) 
  • Create a process to streamline deletes in EDS (in place of full uploads)

Acquisitions

  • Increase efficiency of e-book and streaming video sales by creating a collaborative system/platform to display which resources are of interest for possible purchase.
  • Examine how changes that can be made to DDA program

Serials

  • Make serial and bindery information easier to track and retrieve
  • Improve the preservation of license and access information for individual journal subscriptions
  • Make the review and renewal of e-journal packages easier

Customer Service

  • Reduce response and processing times in LibAnswers problems queue. Train full time staff member to handle/resolve basic inquiries – with more time-intensive / complex inquiries being directed back to me. Ideally, have all tickets resolved within 1-2 business days.
