Newton Gresham Library's book collection is organized using the Library of Congress Classification System. Call Numbers A - L are located on the Fourth Floor, while Call Numbers P-Z are located on the Third Floor. Call numbers are read from top to bottom, and items are arranged by alphabetic and numeric order on the shelves. You will find items with similar subject material grouped together, but bear in mind some items may be located in other areas of the LCC System.

  • GA = Cartography/Mathematical Geography
  • GB = Physical Geography
  • GE = Environmental Sciences
  • GF = Human Geography

QE = Geology

QH = Natural History/Biology

Other relevant classifications:

QC = Physics

QD = Chemistry

TC = Hydraulic and Ocean Engineering

TD = Environmental Technology/Sanitary Engineering
