Data Analysis Tools from SHSU (Mostly Quant, Some Qual)

Using SPSS at SHSU
SPSS Statistics Premium is available on all campus-managed computers. If you would like to request a home-use license for SPSS Statistics Premium, please contact the IT@Sam Service Desk.

Using Stata at SHSU
- Stata is the the most used package for econometric data analysis. Stata datasets are
one of the most common formats in which econometric data is stored and shared
between researchers.
- Log into an SHSU computer. Go to the Start menu and click on the Software Center. Select StataMP, SAS, or Minitab and click the button to install the program to your profile.
Stata Home Use from SHSU
The Home Use Program gives Faculty, Staff, and Students access to a FREE licensed copy of the most recent version of StataMP for their home computer. (PC and Mac)

Using SAS or Minitab at SHSU
Log into an SHSU computer. Go to the Start menu and click on the Software Center. Select SAS or Minitab and click the button to install the program to your profile.
NVivo at SHSU
NVivo is a powerful tool for analyzing qualitative data. Licenses are available for SHSU faculty and staff; contact the IT@Sam Support Desk to request access.

ICSR Lab is a cloud-based computational platform which enables you to analyze large structured datasets. Use is free, but you must apply with a project proposal. ICSR Lab is accessible in all major web browsers, and you can code in interactive notebooks.
