Streaming Video through SHSU Library

Kanopy Streaming Video This link opens in a new window This platform provides access to various films which SHSU has individually licensed or purchased, as listed on the homepage. Please Note: Searching or browsing may display other films as "available for request," but they are not immediately accessible at SHSU.
NOTE: There is limited support on Internet Explorer, so we recommend using Chrome or Firefox (Safari or Edge if available) to stream videos on Kanopy.

SHSU's Newton Gresham Library subscribes to the Kanopy streaming film database. Many films in Kanopy are already accompanied by public performance rights that can be leveraged by organizations on the SHSU campus.

After clicking a film to view it's details, look for a "PPR" icon beside the film's running time (as illustrated below).

Other library film databases might support use in certain circumstances; ask the library to verify if you are not sure whether a specific film or database supports your intended use.

Swank Digital Campus specializes in licensing films for public performances on university campuses. You may contact the library if you would like assistance with the licensing process, though your office or organization will be responsible for paying the licensing fees.

If you are seeking permissions for a specific film and have been unable to find it in the library's streaming video databases or through Swank, you may contact the Copyright Librarian for assistance in seeking permission via other avenues.
