The Hold Pickup Notices report (pickup) located in the Circulation group of reports selects holds that are ACTIVE and available and includes text for indicating that the hold is ready for pickup. The text of the notices that are available for printing can be defined by your library. Notice text files are on the Symphony server in the Unicorn/Notices directory. You can create new text files using the Notices helper located in the Notice tab
The Notice for Cancelled Holds (holdcancelntc) report prints notices for users whose holds have been cancelled, for whatever reason. This report selects holds whose status has been set to INACTIVE as long as the user has never been notified previously of a hold cancellation for that material.
The Hold Recall (Holdrecall) report selects checked-out items that have unavailable ACTIVE holds, and recalls the items to fill holds. The items may be recalled by the report if the items have been checked out longer than the dates defined in the Recall Loan Period in the Circulation Rule policy, and if the unavailable ACTIVE holds on the items do not have a recall status of No Recall (NO) or Recall Now (RUSH). The report sets the recall due date of selected checked-out items, and changes the recall status of the items to Recall Now (RUSH).
Although the Hold Recall report recalls charged items and sets the recall due dates, it does not produce a notice to alert the user. To generate recall notices, run the Recall Notice on Charged Items (Recallntc) report.
Use the Recall Notice on Charged Items (Recallntc) report to generate notices to users requesting that charged items be returned to the library. Although you may generate recall notices using overdue notice reports, this report is the SirsiDynix recommended recall notice report. The default notice texts and the notice type are specific to recall notices.
The Expire Available Holds (expshlfholds) report helps staff to manage the Holds shelf efficiently. The report selects ACTIVE available holds that have been on the Holds shelf for at least the number of days specified in the library policy, and sets the hold status for each hold to INACTIVE with an inactive hold reason of "Hold Expired While On Shelf" (EXP_ONSHLF). The report is ready to run without any other selections.
Occasionally, after a hold has become available on the Holds shelf, a user will cancel a hold in the OPAC, staff will remove or suspend a hold, or the hold will expire while the item is on the holds shelf. The Clean Holds Shelf (cleanholdshelf) report generates a list of INACTIVE holds that have been cancelled, removed, or expired, or a list of ACTIVE holds that have been suspended. These holds need to be cleared from the Holds shelf.
The Expire Available Holds report must run prior to running the Clean Holds Shelf report.
The Purge Inactive Holds (purgeholds) report selects INACTIVE holds and INACTIVE blanket holds, and purges them from the system. The INACTIVE hold status is selected by default, and cannot be modified, so only inactive holds can be deleted. The Purge Holds report cannot remove AVAILABLE holds waiting to be made unavailable by the Clean Holds Shelf report. Typically, you would select holds that were made inactive before a certain date, or were made inactive for a certain reason.
The List Onshelf Items with Holds (pullonshelfhld) report produces a list of items that are qualified to satisfy a hold and are available to be picked up somewhere in the library system.
These conditions must be met for onshelf items to be available to be picked up:
The item must currently be available for circulation (Circulate check box is enabled in the copy).
The item must not already be available for another hold (cannot have a hold status AVAILABLE).
The item must not be on reserve.
The item’s current location must be holdable.
The items current location cannot be in the list of holdable locations excluded in the Selection phase.
