ENGL 2342: Resource Guide for Cultural Background

Looking up Music on the Online Catalog

Searching for Music resources in the online library catalog can often can be challenging for beginners. Here is a brief 3 minute recording of How to Locate Music Resources using the Library's online catalog.

A summary of the information on the recording is listed below.

Begin on the Library homepage.

You can choose to search the "Books & More" tab which is a straight Keyword search (like Google) or you can click on "More Search Options" link or look to the right and click on "Find Books & More: Catalog" and perform more advanced searching.

On the Advanced Search page from the limiter "TYPE" you can choose to select items by type, such as Music CD-ROM, Collected Scores, Audiocassette, Phonograph, Scores. Selecting "LOCATION" lets you limit your searching to only the Music Listening Room collection.

You may also choose to search for works by or about a individual composer, or search for a specific score title. These searches are best performed in the BROWSE search function.
