Binding Music In House

  1. Scores containing less than 25 pages should be placed in inhouse binders.
  2. Select a binder size that the score will fit nicely within.  If there are parts, select a binder with an attached pocket.
  3. Open the score and insert into the binder, aligning it so that it is as centered as possible.  Push the score all the way into the binder to ensure that the fit is tight.
  4. Using the music stapler, staple the score into the binder in three places: center, top, and bottom. Use only rust-proof staples for music processing.
  5. Place a tattle tape security strip in the center of the score and cover with a strip of clear polyester repair tape.
  6. Using buckram book tape, cover the three stapes on the reverse, remove the protector from the adhesive flap, fold the flap over, and adhere to the spine of the binder.
  7. Remove the clear blue protector sheets from the clear front part of the binder.
  8. Adhere call number to the front lower left-hand corner and cover with a clear label protector (see below).
  9. If there are parts that accompany the score, tattle tape each so that the tattle tape faces to the left (towards the spine of the binder) and cover with clear polyester repair tape.
  10. Check to make sure that the parts that are with the score belong to that particular score.
  11. Verify that the correct number of parts are present.
  12. Select a preprinted part number label and indicate how many parts accompany the score in the space provided.
  13. Place the label on the white pocket in the back of the binder, near the upper right hand corner of the pocket (see below).
  14. Affix a Date Due slip just below the barcode near the back portion of the score.
