Why use it?
Searching by any combination of indexes especially using author (last name) and title (first word or unique words in the title) brings up better results than searching just the title by either keyword or browse (Exact Search). It will usually involve less typing compared to typing several words of just the title of a book. More importantly, the presence or absence of the subtitle of a book can make the entries for a book display with several pages separating the titles when doing a browse or keyword search, whereas, the advanced search displays the results more precisely and succinctly.
What does it do?
Using the advanced search provides a keyword search in multiple indexes/fields, similar to the OPAC.
