The Preface is optional and can be deleted if you decide not to use it.
Generally, it may contain personal details about the nature of the research undertaken, how it relates to your background and experiences, and information about the intended audience. Basically, information that is not directly relevant to the research itself. You may also include acknowledgments in this section. If you do include acknowledgments, then delete the Acknowledgments page.
Template users: It is best to wait until you have completely finalized your document before deleting this page, unless you are absolutely positive that you will not use it.
A pre-formatted Preface page already exists in the university template. Just click on the orange text, and start typing.
DELETING THE PREFACE PAGE
If you decide that you do not want to include a Preface page, it is easy to delete:
Click on the SHSU tab.
Click on Navigation Pane. The Nav Pane will open on the the left-hand side of the page.
Right-click on the item you wish to delete from the Nav Pane.
Select Delete. This should remove that page from your document.
Click on Update All to update your Table of Contents.
Margins: Left margin 1.5 inch. Top, Right, Bottom 1 inch.
Lower case Roman Numeral (iii), centered, bottom of page.
Font: 12 pt. Double-spaced throughout. Use same font style throughout document.
